Located in the West Loop at 400 S. Jefferson St., The Chicago School’s new campus reflects a broader shift in how learning environments are designed. Rather than treating classrooms, services, and student life as separate functions, the space brings them together in ways that are meant to support students and help them thrive.
At the center of the campus are 25 high-tech classrooms and immersive simulation labs, all built to support applied learning across disciplines. These are complemented by more than 55 study and meeting spaces, offering a range of environments for focused work and collaborative connection. The campus layout integrates academic support and student services, making resources more immediately accessible as part of daily student life.
This emphasis on integration is intentional. As programs evolve and expectations around higher education shift, physical space plays a larger role in shaping outcomes. The design of the new campus reflects an understanding that learning happens through conversation and shared problem-solving with access to essential tools.
The campus also includes a modern library designed around current student needs. Adaptable workspaces with flexible seating and access to technology reflect how research and study habits have changed. A rooftop space adds another dimension, offering room for both focused work and downtime, an acknowledgment that balance and environment matter in sustaining long-term academic success.
Equally important is the location. The West Loop is one of Chicago’s most active and evolving neighborhoods, known for its mix of industry, culture, and innovation. For students, that translates into an environment that extends beyond the campus itself. Within walking distance are a wide range of dining options and informal workspaces, places where study sessions continue and professional networks begin to form. The area’s accessibility to public transportation connects students to the broader Chicagoland region, making it easier to balance academic, professional, and personal commitments.
This location reinforces the principle that guided the campus design: Proximity matters. Being embedded in a dynamic urban setting creates opportunities for engagement that more isolated environments can’t replicate.
Welcoming its first students in summer 2026, the campus arrives at a moment when higher education is being reexamined from multiple angles. Questions about flexibility, relevance, and real-world application are shaping educational decisions at every level. Physical infrastructure must become part of the answers to such questions. This new space in the West Loop is designed with that reality in mind. It brings together modern facilities, integrated support, and a location that encourages connection both in the classroom and beyond it.
The result is a campus that our students will define by how it enables them to engage and collaborate in preparation for what comes next.
The new West Loop location will also serve as a shared home for The Community Solution Education System, bringing together System-level leadership and institutional communities in a space designed to encourage connection, collaboration, and innovation across the broader educational ecosystem.
